Musical and Graphic treatment
Visual Style: For our visual style, we would like to work with different color identities for each of our three realms: the Present, the Past and the Unconscious Realm. We envision a more varied color palette for the present, a more limited, less saturated palette for the past, and a “negative,” surreal palette for the Unconscious.

Backgrounds: We are still exploring a final look for the backgrounds. But we would like to work with references of real locations when portraying places, so we won’t have to create every single location from scratch. We want to work with believable perspective, and have dramatic lighting when necessary.

Music: We need to explore with music, but we are aiming for a repertoire that includes cross-cultural music and organic-music, so we can create an original atmosphere. To explore the characters quirkiness, relatability and variety of personalities and ethnicities, it would be ideal that the voice acting took on several accents.

Characters: We exploring simplified designs to facilitate the animation process, but we still want to retain their subtleties. We want to explore different ranges of acting in each character, from energetic to contained, but without stepping into an extremely cartoony style. Anime series and French films would be good references for what we have in mind.

We want to create a distinctive visual style that combines simplicity with intriguing character designs, creating a relatable yet captivating world.
Our narrative is very dialog and character driven, so we wanted to explore clean and expressive lines and shapes for our characters. This approach allows us to emphasize their unique personalities and emotions while maintaining a visually appealing and accessible look. We strike a balance between simplicity and complexity, ensuring that our character designs are engaging and relatable without becoming overly simplistic.

While our character designs have been further developed, it's important to note that our backgrounds are currently in the early stages of development. We plan to embark on a background exploration process to find the most efficient and effective methods of bringing our settings to life while preserving the quality of the series.

Through this exploration, we aim to strike a balance between artistic creativity and time efficiency, ensuring that our backgrounds contribute to the overall atmosphere of the series but are still doable within our pipeline and time-frame.
We haven’t yet locked a final visual style, so please consider the following images as explorations.
